Overlooked Voices: The Minor Books of The Bible To Be Fall Bible Study Ever wondered what the book of Philemon was all about? How about this unknown Titus guy? What is being lamented in the five chapter book of Lamentations? These and other questions will be answered (hopefully) with our fall Bible study beginning on Sunday at 11: 20 AM on September 14. These “short” books of the Bible often get overlooked by the “tall” (long) books of the Bible. Come and explore these often ignored books of the Bible. ”The Question of God: Sigmund Freud & C.S. Lewis With Dr. Armand Nicholi” To Be Explored In Video Series Starting on Wednesday, September 17 at 6:30 PM and concluding three Wednesdays later, this PBS series will be viewed and discussed. Dr. Nicholi, a professor at Harvard, has taught a popular series on the question of God’s existence by studying the lives of two thinkers who come to very different conclusions—C.S. Lewis and Sigmund Freud. After hearing the respective personal stories of these great men of the twentieth century, topics such as “Transcendent Experience,” “science or revelation,” “the exalted Father,” “miracles,” “moral law,” and “suffering and death,” amongst others, will be discussed. No reading required, though there is a book based on this PBS series, using the same title, for those who wish to read further on the topic. For more information about the program, click here |
